According to media source, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed confidence in boosting India’s historical ties with Brunei and deepening its strategic partnership with Singapore as he embarked on a two-nation visit. As he landed in Brunei, Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah welcomed him at the airport.Members of the Indian diaspora also gathered at the airport to welcome PM Modi, who became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the two-district nation.
As per media reports,Earlier in his departure statement, Mr. Modi expressed confidence that his visit to Brunei and Singapore will further strengthen India’s partnership with the two countries and the larger ASEAN region. He said, both countries are important partners in India’s Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision. The Prime Minister said he is embarking on a first-ever bilateral visit to Brunei Darussalam. He said, as India and Brunei celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations, he is looking forward to his meetings with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other esteemed members of the Royal family.
