According to media source,Ahead of the Bangladesh General elections, the Benapole Express caught fire in a suspected arson attack causing the death of five individuals and leaving several others injured. The train, en route from Jessore to Dhaka, caught fire in Gopibagh, an older part of Dhaka near the city’s main rail terminal. Fire service officer Rakjibul Hasan mentioned that at least four coaches of the Benapole Express were engulfed in flames. According to reports, Indian citizens were also on board.
As per media reports,Police officials suspect an arson attack during political unrest just ahead of the national elections. “We suspect the fire incident was an act of sabotage,” said police chief Anwar Hossain. A young man lost his life while attempting to evacuate passengers during the incident. Police confirmed the recovery of five bodies. “We have recovered five bodies,” said police commander Khandaker Al Moin.
