Union Minister JP Nadda chairs Manthan Shivir on boosting India’s chemical and petrochemical sector

According to media sources, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda, chaired a day-long Manthan Shivir organised in New Delhi today to discuss fostering long-term development of the Indian chemical and petrochemical sector. During the meeting, Mr. Nadda emphasised the collective commitment to achieving long-term, sustainable growth in the chemical sector and expressed confidence in the fact that with the right approach, the country can build a more resilient and self-reliant industrial ecosystem. He suggested that such deliberative processes following a holistic and whole-of-Government approach should be held at regular intervals to avoid policymaking in silos and to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The minister also added that this thought process and dialogue should be institutionalised to make it a continuous process.
Representatives from various departments and ministries including Revenue, DPIIT, Pharmaceuticals, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship among others participated in the event.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma highlighted that the deliberations will focus on six thematic areas. These are Infrastructure Development; Sustainability, Recycling and Circular Economy; Trade Remedial Measures; Boosting Manufacturing Towards Viksit Bharat; Skilled Workforce and Training; and Road Map for Future Ready Plastic Industry.
