Today, Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy R.K. Singh addressed diplomats from various countries and media persons during the curtain raiser for the ‘sixth session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly,’ scheduled between October 3-November 2.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister R.K. Singh laid emphasis on the importance of International Solar Alliance in global energy transition and urged the members of the alliance to help the countries with lower RE penetration get investment. “Solar energy has an edge over other sources of renewable energy due to its reliability and comparatively longer availability. ISA, with strong 116 members, can play a major role in energy access and global energy transition. We have been helping countries with access to clean energy in the remotest area as a record about 750 million people still do not have access to electricity. Through ISA, we have been providing expertise, helping countries set up regulatory structures and coming up with solar projects in these countries. However, the most important contribution we can make is to ensure that investments for green energy reach these countries,” said the Minister.
On the occasion, MNRE Secretary BS Bhalla made opening remarks and ISA DG Dr. Ajay Mathur gave briefing on the proceedings of the sixth session of the assembly.
